Texas Firefighters Need Your Help

Thank you for being strong supporters of the Firefighters and EMS Fund. You as residents of the great state of Texas have been called upon to support legislation that will benefit first responders in your area.

With assistance from professional firefighters associations around the state we have received a list of legislative initiatives that need advocate support. Please call your representative and urge them to support the following bills:

SB 803 (Introduced by Senator Brandon Creighton) – Relating to certain increases in benefits under the Firefighters’ relief and retirement fund in certain municipalities. HB 2494 (Introduced by Representative Will Metcalf) – Relating to the election of emergency services commissioners in certain emergency services districts. This bill has a companion bill SB 774. Click here to view Representative Metcalf’s Contact Information

HB 638 – Relating to the authority of certain political subdivisions to adopt a budget that reduces the amount allocated to provide fire protection, law enforcement, or emergency medical service. HB 582 – Relating to the exemption of tuition and laboratory fees at public institutions of higher learning for certain paramedics.
